When to book your Wedding Photographer

When should you book your Wedding Photographer?

As soon as your date is confirmed, with your venue(s), is the best time to get your wedding photographer booked.

Why you should book your wedding photographer early?

You absolutely don’t have to follow tradition and pose if you don’t want to.

Your wedding is a big deal, and you both want to look and feel as awesome as possible. I believe the only way for you to truly feel great on your wedding day, is if you are left to just be yourselves. I’ve literally laughed out loud when I’ve heard a photographer say to a couple “look at each other and pretend you love each other”. Seriously I’ve heard that. The most love you will ever feel for each other will be on your wedding day, so you don’t have to pretend.

Just think about each other

on your wedding day

I have many things to think about on your wedding day, and that is to tell the story of your day; capture life long memories for you; photograph you both looking absolutely amazing; be there with you every step of the day.

You have just one thing to think about - each other!

Natural Wedding Photography

There’s so much that happens on your wedding day, and telling your wedding day love story in photos is best done candidly, without any posing.

Grooms getting ready, feeling vulnerable and full of nerves is an amazing memory to capture, and it cannot be staged. These are great memories to look back over. I do my best to just let you get on with it while I merge into the background and get your shots.

Brides and bridesmaids getting ready is often chaotic and fun filled. There’s so much going on! But once that dress goes on, the bride usually takes on a certain look and glow of elegance, she moves differently and this is what I strive to capture. There’s something delicate about a bride when she’s dressed and ready to meet her love, and I want her to look back on her photos and re-live it. It’s almost guaranteed that when I hand a bride her flowers, she’ll delicately look down at them - and I hit the shutter!

Having Fun at your Wedding

First and foremost you’ve got to have fun at your wedding, you need to feel comfortable enough to laugh and throw your head back.

As you can see in this photo, it’s not so much posed as it is positioned. So yes, I do have to take some control over how the photo is structured for you, otherwise it could look messy.

If there’s a group of people, they have to be positioned so that your photos look beautiful, consistent and well structured. What people do after they’re in position is anyone’s guess. They don’t have to stare at me and my camera and say “cheese”. The fun, the love and the laughter comes out when they concentrate on each other.

Very rarely do I get couples looking at me. In fact I often say “You don’t need to look at me; I know you feel nothing for me. So look at the person you love.” Not only does that make them giggle, it brings out the love in their eyes, it brings out the tenderness, it brings out the essence of their wedding day love story; and that’s when I hit the shutter!

I hope this helps you. If you’re a couple and you don’t want all the un-natural posing that goes with wedding photography, be in touch and let’s see if we’re a perfect match.

Love Dee xx
